Happy International Baking Week!

Ever since the first episode of the Great British Bake Off aired back in 2010, baking has been ‘on the rise’!

With approximately 4,500 small bakeries such as J M Bakery in Monifieth, 350 medium bakeries such as Campbells House of Cakes in Carnoustie, and 150 large bakeries in the UK such as Greggs, could this be the industry for you?

If so, there are many different pathways you could take:

College Courses

Dundee and Angus College offers a great range of baking and hospitality courses, from Cakes and Traybakes to a NC Bakery. The College’s part-time, full time and leisure courses to fit into everybody’s schedules. If you or a family member are interested in finding out more, visit the college website soon: courses are open to book now: https://dundeeandangus.ac.uk/courses/

Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is great way to gain qualifications for this career while gaining practical experience and insight into the industry. With an apprenticeship you learn while on the job and gain a qualification. Apprenticeship.scot currently has 11 hospitality apprenticeships available all over Scotland; visit their website to have a look: https://bit.ly/2Cpekgk
