March is a busy month, with lots of opportunities.

Scottish Tourism Month takes place in March, an opportunity to celebrate the incredible, thriving and diverse industry that forms a major part of Scotland’s workforce and a key aspect of our national economy. Large and small events occur all over the country to share best practice, promote new opportunities and encourage us to be bigger and better.

The first week of March is also Apprenticeship Week, dedicated time to nationally and locally recognise the extraordinary opportunities that apprenticeships offer to young people, employees, businesses and Scotland as a whole. Angus Hospitality and Tourism Taster Day 16th January 2019

On Wednesday the 16th of January, DYW Dundee & Angus ran a Hospitality and Tourism Taster Day in conjunction with Angus Council.  The aim of the event was to encourage young people to view the hospitality and tourism sectors as desirable career paths before they have made any career decisions.  We invited a variety of different industry professionals along to speak to over 60 S3 pupils from six of the secondary schools in Angus.Read more

Rockwell Pupils Experience the Renewable Energy Sector!


Pupils from Dundee’s Rockwell Learning Centre recently linked up with sustainable energy solutions company Vital Energi, where they visited Vital Energi’s Biomass Energy Centre in Guardbridge, Fife.

This educational site visit was facilitated through Marketplace, a new online platform which provides an opportunity for employers and education to link more easily together. Employers can register and post ‘offers’ to schools such as site visits to their workplace, staff coming out to schools to deliver class talks, practical sessions on CV writing and Interview Preparation, and a whole host of other ‘offers’ that a business may want to post that is relevant and of interest to them as business. Schools can then log in to Marketplace and book these offers on a first come first served basis, making the process simple and easy to use.
